This art piece was completely intuitive and evolved over several layers. I was having fun making interesting drip lines using watery paint and turning the canvas over several times and applying lots of splashes of paint.
In the final layers, I chose to create petal like shapes over the most interesting patterns so the first layer would be a negative space. It’s still quite abstract but organic, floral shapes are evident. Lastly, I added swirls and lines in darker navy shades to add contrast and intrigue.
I named it Moon Flowers as I felt it had an extra terrestrial feel and the textures and patterns reminded me of the moon’s surface.
The colour palette is very versatile incorporating pinks/apricots/ochres with greens and dark greys but it’s all toned down with white.
It’s interesting imagery keeps the onlooker entranced.
