In Sorrow
There is nothing under heaven or earth,
More powerful than my own will.
Though I fall from the heights,
I will yet rise again
On makeshift wings
To seek my birthright.
Cocooned in this mortal skin
My sorrows seek to ground me;
But I shed my tears
With a face towards the sun
That will one day
Bow to me in the firmament.
I do not forget my sorrows
No, one by one I weave each strand;
Shaped and twisted and brought to bear
Until it is my sorrows strength,
That will take me to soar
Above this world and onward.
