Acrylic on wood, ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
Blue Swimmer Crabs are a part of many summer holidays and Australian beach life. This image brings back memories of summers spent crabbing and cooking up brilliant blue crustaceans and watching them turn orange.
Highly detailed, this artwork is focused on faithfully replicating this unique species. These crabs play an important role in Australia's oceans and as such females with eggs are totally protected. Many layers of paint have been used to create the colours and add to portraying the hard, glossy nature of the shell. Tiny brushes have been used to portray every detail including the tiny 'hairs' on each crab leg.
The artwork is 8 x 10" and comes with a wire ready to hang. Painted on a reclaimed timber backing the board has been sanded smooth and provides an organic textural base.
The photo of the artwork in a bathroom is a guide only, and this artwork has been depicted alongside another of my pieces - 'Purple'. This piece is also 8 x 10" and available on this site.
Being in the scientific illustration field, this artwork is signed on the front with the species name. It comes with a certificate of authenticity.
If you love this piece but the size isn't quite right for your interior, I'm happy to create a similar piece to suit.
