This painting is a comment on beauty and how we value it above almost everything. I’m not immune to the beauty effect. I covert pretty stones, crave spectacular views and an endless number of treasures both man-made and naturally formed. The desire for all things beautiful is hard-wired into us - programmed, if you will. But what of the non-beautiful? What about the rodents and ravens, the toads, the slugs? For the most part they are unseen, untreasured - unless, of course, they have value of another kind. I would much prefer a clever crow to a pretty bird, but perhaps that’s because I too, am one of the unplugged.
