Artwork Description

During World War Two, the Royal Australian Air Force flew Spitfires from Top End airstrips in defence of Australia’s ‘frontline’. While based at Livingstone (55 kilometres south of Darwin), 457 Squadron RAAF, the 'Grey Nurse Squadron', distinguished their aircraft by painting a gaping shark's mouth on the nose.
