Artwork Description

Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

I saw this wild Onaqui stallion and just had to paint him. My friend had photographed him. I decided to name this piece "Representing The Council Of Fire". While researching Utah tribes since these horses are apparently descendants of those ridden by the tribes I discovered this- "The Iroquois nations would also suggest that "democracy" preceded the colonials via the Iroquoian Confederacy—their governing council referred to as the "Council of Fire" and their constitution referred to as "The Great Roots of Peace." In other words, the sovereign status of the American Indian tribes was in place prior to the arrival of European colonists and is solidly lodged in history."
