The Mirror's Image
Collage on wooden panel
400mm x 400mm
2013
This visually stunning piece is comprised of layer upon layer of triangular segments, built up to compose a complex geometric pattern.
All of the pieces used are hand cut from the pages of glossy fashion and pop culture magazines, and each individual piece consists of a fragment of the face of a model or fashion icon.
The pieces are then organised against a colour scale and these hundreds of pieces are then used to construct the overall geometric pattern.
Viewing the piece from a distance, the work appears to be present a three dimensional plane of pyramid-like shapes, but closer inspection reveals the complexity of the design.
The work is constructed on a timber panel and is supplied ready to hang. It is signed on the reverse side by the artist. The face of the work is coated with a clear varnish to protect the piece, which also creates a glossy finish that enhances the colours of the individual elements and overall appearance.
