Description

The black and white photograph from Albany in Western Australia, which I took two decades ago, was always on my mind. It was like an obsession from which there was no relief.
The scenery of the ruins become very dear to me…
The place is called Point King Lighthouse, completed in 1858, located on the north shore entrance to Princess Royal Harbour.
There was no other way to transmit my fascination, than into painting.
The ruins of the old lighthouse tell us a story of three keepers and their families who once lived there.
The Lighthouse becomes a subject of many stories and narrative poems: The Lighthouse Keeper’s Wife, The Gap, Jetty Story or Lighthouse Girl by Dianne Wolfer, Albany-based author.
No wonder I was lured to that place.
