“Front Facing Version 4 Oil & Wire”
This painting is the fourth Version like it so far, versions 2 and 3 have SOLD.
This version keeps the Front Facing pose, I cut out shapes of oil on canvas and use a strong adhesive and wire to attach them to a stretched canvas in a collage style. Copper wire is also used to depict facial features and simplified body planes. A brass washer is used to outline an eye on one side of the face.
The background is in a similar style to the colour field artist Mark Rothko, and is made up of thinned out layers of oil paint built up and ending up with some thick chunky area's on the top layer. This painting is the first completed one I have done in this mixed media style.
