Roses are not the easiest to paint without any aid like photography or other mechanical means, due to the fact that they change every minute (as does the natural light in the studio). Every rose has to be chosen and painted individually and placed into the composition, the shadows they cast on other roses or petals need to be calculated. It is easy to see, in artists works, which paintings of flowers are just copied from photo's and which are created organically. True art are the ones that are done just what the eye sees. If done properly, the result will be an obvious work of art, with some minor acceptable flaws, and not a painted photo.
