Artwork Description

Each Spring these Poppies happily re-germinate in our backyard. They are a delight to walk past on my way to my studio (the large shed in the background of the progress image). I commenced the painting en plein air and my husband set up the umbrella to shade me as I worked. It was an idyllic day until a storm came through in the mid afternoon. I knew the flowers would be damaged so quickly took some resource photos and completed the painting in my studio. I used a little artistic license and included the original colours of the first flowers to bloom some years ago.

Comes with Certificate of Authenticity. In this work I have first sketched the composition with thin sepia acrylic paint, applied a thin oil wash before working in thicker oil paints. The sides are painted in acrylic. I use artist quality Australian made oil and acrylic paints. This is painted on canvas stretched over a light weight stretcher bar. The sides are painted a blue-toned-black. It can be hung with the D-rings or the wire already attached.
