Oil on stretched canvas, ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
"Banksias at Dusk" is one is my Bushflower series of paintings, where collected bush ephemera are the subject matter.
In this painting, banksias are the dominant motif, but also featured are the strange seed pods of the asteromyrtus. Wattle and melaleuca too are included.
Some of the pieces are found growing in local parklands, along streets, or bits that I might have been given.
My studio has a lovely collection of my gatherings, and I paint by holding the subject in my hand or propped up against my easel. Then I might choose a different botanical item that contrasts to the previous one...and so the images build on the canvas.
The painting is extended over the sides and the work is sent ready to hang.
