"The blue fairy wren" is a painting from my Bushflower series, where collected native floral ephemera are the subject matter.
I paint directly from life and use the many collected bits of botanica that I have drying in my studio. Occasionally, as with this piece, I give an ecological dimension by adding in some fauna. The fairy wren in this painting highlights the many little wren that I see darting along my local creek...they are definitely heard before being seen.
The colour scheme in the painting revolves around the complementaries of yellow and purple hues. The blue of the bird is a contrast pop of colour.
The image is extended over the sides and the work is sent ready to hang.
