The family next door has been going through a rough time, and the mood has been somewhat sombre. It’s like all the colour has been sucked out of their world. This painting, in monochrome, of a grey stormy sky and sea, is a reflection of their grief- subdued but volatile.. In black and white, it is the details you see when looking at this piece, whilst remaining somewhat ephemeral, that remind me it is much like that grief. The storm will pass, and all the colour of life will come, after the ‘grey weather’.
