Inspired by Pablo Neruda's Ode al Color Verde (Ode to Colour Green) : The green
I did not hold,
I do not hold,
the green I could never claim
is the underground underwater brilliance,
luminescence
of the emerald,
verdant eagle in stone, eye
of the abyss, frozen butterfly,
star that could not
find the sky,
and so it buried
a green save
in the Earth’s deepest chamber,
and there like
a rosary
from subterranean fire-lands,
sea-flame and tiger-heart,
you slept in splendor, green stone,
fingernail of the mountains,
river of conceit,
hostile statue, hardened green. Thank you for reading parts of Pablo's poem translated into English and for looking at my art.
