Magnolias are believed to have existed from the beginning of time, symbolising longevity, perseverance, nobility and love.

When I bought these amazing flowers I saw no other way to express them, and their symbolic meaning of eternal love, but to make them colourful and transparent on the grey canvas. A grey canvas by itself might be very boring and dull, however, as soon as these amazing flowers join the picture, everything changes. It feels as if they bring the painting to life with their bright colourful combination of purple, pink and white. The grey background contrasts the foreground, bringing out every single bit of detail in these fragile and precious flowers. The buds show us the life in these flowers, as they bloom, and the transparency adds mystery.
As you ponder upon this painting, spend some time looking at the holes in the leaves, filling the gaps in your mind, for it is the blank spaces in an artwork that truly tell the story.
