Sitting in the warm summer breeze, looking out onto the quiet river, hearing the birds sing. You would pick an apple off your apple tree that you so much loved; for it would symbolise safety and a feeling of constant joy; munching on it, completely nonchalant, completely free. It all started off with a tiny sapling placed in the ground. A sapling you all loved dearly, and a sapling you would see growing into a majestic beautiful tree.
The apples were perfect bright green, reflecting the sun, playing with the natural colours of the world. The sky, as you remember it, was rich blue - always contrasting the apples so perfectly, yet also fitting into the alluring harmony of our world with such skill.
They would taste a little sour, as the sweet would fill the gaps. They were always so full of flavour and so mellow.
The apples, as you remember them, would hide between the leaves, which always seemed as many colours at once to you... Here it is yellow, here it is greener. Here are blue tones that sit on the other end of the spectrum, and here is some pink - adding a feeling of childlike happiness.
Painting this piece was an unmatched experience. I was in my bubble, undisturbed by the outside world, remembering all the great times I had as a child. I believe that this energy will carry through, with the bold and decisive strokes, as you too, will feel a sense of delight.
