Gum Blossoms in an Amber Vase

My studio sits at the end of a paddock which backs onto the Wombat State Forest. There's a beautiful big gumtree that has branches laden with gum blossoms. The smell is heavenly. Right now I have a flock of cockatoo that are feeding on the nectar causing the blossoms to fall and carpet the ground in fluffy pink..

I love working with thick, buttery oil paint. I wanted to capture the essence of a cheery Summer day with the warm hues. I loved painting this piece, I believe art is imbued with the energy of the artist, so this painting is cheerful and happy.
