Leaf in a Vase
I enjoy exploring plants in my art. There's something charismatic about watching a plant grow. The new leaves can take up to a week to unfurl, like a slow dance. This leaf is from my Rattlesnake Calathea, it's a tropical finicky plant whose long spotted leaves resemble a rattlesnake.
This was painted during a Summer thunderstorm in my studio in Lyonville, Vic. The thick, buttery paint was a joy to work with. I believe art is imbued with the spirit and energy of the painter - this piece instils a sense of calm.
Thank-you for viewing my work!
