My friend Lula is a Summer person. Her backyard is a lush tropical haven. The kind you'd see in Bali with large Elephant Ear plants and carved stone duckweed troughs.

Throughout Summer weekends she hosts wonderful BBQs and there's nothing better than sipping a prosecco cocktail while dipping your feet in her pool. I painted this with Lula in mind and imbued it with all the fun memories we've shared over the last four years .

I hope you love this work as much as I loved painting it. I really enjoyed applying the thick buttery paint alla prima, it reminds me of how fleeting these special moments with friends can be and how much they need to be treasured!
