Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Repose by Kathryn Fenton is a portrait of two young women relining and in that state of daydreaming when sleep is fast approaching and the dreamscapes begin to float
through the mind.
Painted in oils on canvas, I used two very different approaches with my application of paint for this work. Oil is not a medium synonymous with washes,
but the aim was to bend the rules and make the paint appear like transparent washes of watercolour in context with the subject matter.
My objective was to create a dreamlike atmosphere where both the women and their surrounds would be one world that would overlap and bleed into the other.
This moody, realistic portrait is painted on a large scale for the viewer to experience a meditative calm while viewing this piece.
