I painted this piece in honour of my son and his journey. I have mentioned previously in my artwork descriptions thus far my son's condition and how it has affected my family (see "Into Daddy's Arms").
This piece is about the part of his journey in which he had to wear a brace for 24 hours a day and had to wear plaster casts (note the legs on the baby giraffe)
Like a baby giraffe trying out his wobbly legs, his parents helping him to walk, we, too, had to help our son find his stability and find his feet.
Our son, now learning to walk earlier than a baby without issues with his feet and ankles, will always have us to help him up. This piece shows our commitment and love to him.
