This paper collage is part of my ongoing series of beautiful monsters. These are figures assembled from dissected body parts found in various magazines. They're embedded in a fractured, somewhat geometrical landscape. This backdrop is made of irregular, semi pentagonal shapes that combine greens with the creature's hair and other soft feminine fragments. Though once you look closely, you'll see images that contrast the soft innocence of the portrait. This work utilised magazines and a re-used printed canvas as a way to diminish waste, and satisfy my urge to have recycling as part of my artistic process. This collage on canvas is varnished and ready to hang, and will add a contemporary touch to your in-home gallery.
