Exploring Australian bush environments inspired this landscape. I visitied a friends property which has become a conservation area 'Sportsman's Creek conservation area' Dilkoon NSW Australia, The story of the land and its regeneration is fascinating and I found myself creatively responding to this narrative in my art making. The land was logged in the 1980's and areas of the bush land is still recovering and regenerating. Large hollow, black burnt out stumps are present, plus large areas were cleared of any growth for cattle farming and you see dry exposed earth. However the property also has a tributary of the Clarence River running through it and when you explore you discover a creek, sand island and lush forest supporting a healthy eco system. In my painting you are viewing the changes and growth occurring from above as if looking from a birds eye view.
