The John McDouall Stuart Series are my interpretation of Stephen Kings sketches‚ surveyor and unofficial Artists on the John McDouall Stuart expedition across the Continent of Australia from Adelaide to Point Stuart. December 1861 – December 1862. References “John McDouall Stuart Journal and Mortlock Library‚ Adelaide”. Brinkleys Bluff “Friday‚ 13th April 1862‚ Brinkley Bluff‚ McDonnell Range. At sunrise I ascended the bluff‚ which is the most difficult hill I have ever climbed: it took me an hour and a half to reach the top. It is very high‚ and is composed principally of igneous rock‚ with a little ironstone‚ much the same as the ranges down the country. On reaching to top‚ I was disappointed: the view was not so good as I expected‚ in consequence of the morning being so hazy”. The John McDouall Stuart Series were destroyed in a local flash food March 2015. Limited numbered prints on Smooth Matte paper are now on offer for sale.
