Kathy Lee is an International Australian artist who was born in the UK.
Covid lockdown gave her time and energy to explore art more fully- she had previously been involved in a variety of arts and crafts, which werenโt sustainable during Covid.
Exploring both the nearby bushland and online photo inspirations, she has created her own unique style of art in Watercolour, Charcoal and Alcohol and Acrylic inks, and is an accomplished artist in each of these mediums,.
She discovered a love of expressive animal and floral art and, whilst this is her main focus, she is constantly exploring new avenues and ideas to extend her creative abilities. She loves to breathe life into her animal characters, with expressive eyes and their own personalities.
She takes a less traditional approach to her art both in style and also the vibrancy of her Watercolours - experimenting with its fluidity and never ending possibilities - sometimes loose flowing, and sometimes made to reveal the finest of details witih multi - layering and many tiny brushstrokes . This is seen clearly in the detailed animal and bird artworks, for which she is well known.
Art is her passion, and her creativity and thirst for knowledge and new skills, sees her constantly challenging herself - experimenting and learning in order to push the boundaries of her art.so it is constantly evolving.
Her aim is to breathe life and passion into each of her artworks, to enable art lovers to feel a connection with them, and to sense the integrity of each piece - if she achieves that, she is happy. Each piece is created with love and passion and, she says, carries a a tiny piece of her heart.
Inspired by beauty in all things, she seeks to convey the sense of joy and passion that leads her to create each piece, and to encourage others, especially children, to experiment with art
She also tries to highlight the plight of endangered species through her art. She enjoys the challenge each new artwork brings, and has a diverse and interesting portfolio.
She is an international artist, with works in schools, kindergardens and private homes, in Australia,, USA, and UK and her artworks are regularly featured in art shows, competitions and awards. She also donates artworks to raise funds for charities.
She was chosen to participate in The Australian Watercolour Muster 2021 and 2023, and was invited to be a featured artist in the 6th Annual Painting Salon 2021 in Los Angeles (the only Australian representative). She has also been a featured guest artist on art websites, and her work is regularly shared on social media.
