Artwork Description

Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

Spring has arrived here in my hometown and the pink magnolia trees are covered in shades of beautiful magenta.I wanted to capture that sense of joy, new life and colour that is everywhere around me. The pink robins form a lovely border pattern, whilst the gouldian finches keep a watchful eye on the resident galah. On the table we have figs, ripe and ready to be eaten, and a few objects catching light and movement.

There are two birds, eastern spine bills, on opposite sides of the top half of the painting. the colours are peaceful: soft greens, muted blues and dusty pinks. The is a vase towards the top left, and at the bottom left a plate with leaf patterns. In the centre bottom half there is a small fruit plate with two apples. The table is decorated with patterns of leaves. In this work there are 7 plates hanging on a wall covered in gum tree leaves. There is a kookaburra, two magpies, a sulphur crested cockatoo, three regent honeyeaters and a yellow tailed black cockatoo. There is a leading staircase on which two flamingos are dozing off. The staircase is covered in pink magnolia flowers. There is a lounge chair tucked behind a screen, and a pesky galah has just hopped in through the front door. In the doorway, to the right, a bright yellow and pink dress hangs on a mannequin.A bright golden dress patterned in dark navy blue stand on a round rug, patterned in reds and blues. To the left there is a room divider where a woman sits on a wooden chair, resembling a cover of a dress pattern. In the bottom left corner a magpie is keeping an eye on things and to the right of the work you can see a cut off piece of Harpers fashion magazine.
