This is a large bonsai ;) It plays with the viewers scale perception, while maintaining bonsai appearance through delicate balance, and gnarling of limbs. It is constructed of controlled paint pours, and multiple layers of translucent shapes (the blossoms).
It's a painting that was approached with traditional composition and Japanism, but executed through very modern techniques.
