Oil Paint on wood
Signed on the front.
Scrimshaw is the engraving on bone or ivory. Australia’s whaling history dates back to 1791 and sailors on whalers carved whale teeth to pass time. The bones were burned as fuel so I have sketched in charcoal to mark the history.
A mother and baby humpback whales loosely sketched in charcoal on a ‘tooth'.
Painted in oils on board.
