Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the back.
This painting is of the Three Fates, or Moirai. The three Greek goddesses assign individual destinies to mortals at birth. Their names are Clotho (the Spinner), Lachesis (the Alloter) and Atropos (the Inflexible).
Clotho spun the “thread” of human fate, Lachesis dispensed it, and Atropos cut the thread, thus determining the individual's moment of death. There are hidden symbols (a spool, shears and scroll) in the background which represent the roles of three goddesses.
The background pattern wraps around the side of the canvas. The small artist signature is on the front and the back. The painting comes ready to hang.
