Country Sunset was inspired by a smaller test panting I did when I first went back to oils. I have always loved the sunsets we are lucky to see here in WA and I wanted to recreate those amazing colours in this painting. Utilising the black Silhouettes of the trees just makes the colours of the sky stand out. I was commissioned to do a much larger but similar piece to this early in the year and it's new owner tells me the colours change as the light in the room change, just like a sunset sky would.
