Mankind has many relationships with the ocean and where I live the main one is recreational. On weekends the bay is filled with people fishing, out boating, swimming or sea gazing. There is a beautiful part of the bay that overlooks Garden Island. On the weekend I was driving along the coast and noticed how many 4WD's there were parked with their empty boat trailers as all the boats were out on the water. A little further down the road I came across this part of the bay, always so full of boats and I remembered a day I sat and watched the boats come in to rest as the sun settled on a beautiful weekend day. I sat & dreamed where they had been and what adventures they might have had.
That image I have held in my head was the inspiration for this painting.
