Ruth Bader Ginsburg - I chose to paint a picture of RBG from her yearbook as it isn’t as well known as her later photographs. I wanted to capture a woman in her youth who was full of hope for her future with so many ideas on changing the world before she went on to achieve them. I also painted her as ‘Themis - The Greek Goddess of Justice’ with a laurel wreath in her hair and the scales of justice balanced on her shoulders. Both of these are collaged with gold leaf in the wreath. Her many well-known quotes make up her sweater.
