Another interpretation of Van Gogh’s Sunflowers (Munich version), this painting took almost a year to resolve. Initial inspiration came from Odilon Redon’s ethereal and luminous colour work. This was layered over with stencils and impasto textures until the surface took a rock-like appearance. The result is a mixture of blossoms, hieroglyphs and alien forms. I adore this work.
