This piece was completed in 2018 and took many months of consideration, experimentation and uncertainty to arrive at its final state of balanced chaos. It represents a more serious attempt than earlier work in my Ghost Tree series to create a sense of space with depth, as well as continuing the use of opaque paints to create layers as I did in my work 'Ghost Canopy'.

My Ghost Tree series is based on careful observation of and meditation on trees and forests and attempts to portray these lifeforms in their essential or spiritual form. The creation of them has also been a meditative and contemplative focal point for my own spirit and I hope that others can derive some of the same talismanic or mandalic effects in beholding the images.

There is increasing scientific evidence for sentience and sociality in plants. A forest is a community of individuals interacting in complex ways. Trees react to changes in their surroundings, share resources and information with each other, and remember events.

The painting is mounted permanently to a wooden board with acid free glue and varnished for its protection.
