Joseph, this is the second part of the painting "Light of the World," which can stand alone. Without the second part, where the Virgin Mary is shown with the baby, you can see this painting as Joseph placing his hand on Mary's belly. He is looking at it in anticipation of the miracle when all his and his people's dreams and expectations are about to come true.
