The turquoise waters and white beaches of Maria Island make a stunning backdrop to this pair of grazing Cape Barren geese. I love the juxtaposition of the scrubby , brown grasses and bracken with the green shrubs edging the sand. There's a great sense of distance as we move form the goose stepping bird in the foreground over the rolling pastures along the beach and onto the far mountain. The grey of the geese is echoed in the pebble beach and helps tie the painting together.
