The light on the distant hill was the inspiration for this moody pastel painting. The silver river leads the eye in past the red farm buildings and on to the bright spot in the distance, the stormy clouds add drama yet we feel a lightness approaching as the storm abates. I see it as a metaphor for those times in our lives when we feel caught in the middle of a crisis and the first ray of hope appears that things will indeed be better some day soon.
