Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
Quite a challenge I set for myself as I endeavoured to convert an idea to an image on the canvas.
I wanted to depict the Geisha as ethereal, dreamlike or a mirage. I did her in pointillism as this method of applying the paint enabled me to make her semi- transparent thus allowing the stylised clouds to drift in the background behind her. The blossoms, branches & leaves are done in more traditional, though stylised brush strokes with quite heavy impasto work to give another dimension to the painting.
I’ve spent endless, relaxing hours alternating between doing the dots & resting my eyes by working on the blossoms whilst listening to soft background music. I never fail to feel the absolute thrill and elation as my ‘idea’ emerges exactly as I wanted the “image” to appear on my canvas.
This painting is signed on the front and a laminated, numbered Certificate of Authenticity is included.
