I couldn't get the title 'The Velveteen Rabbit' out my head when I finished this one so I decided to call it, 'The Purple Velveteen Hare'.

The purple is a very subtle purple and and the hare is painted a bit looser than some of my more recent works, I really love the colours in this one. The hare is painted on a deep edge professional series stretched boxed canvas, with matching painted the side. The background received three coats of paint prior to the hare be painted. I like the background to have slight brush marks as it adds a ouch of handmade to each painting.
