Artist Statement: Memories Of The Rock Pools was created to celebrate my childhood home right by the sea at Balmoral Beach NSW.
I have many happy memories of days spent at the beach, fishing on the wharf and one of my favorite pastimes was looking into the many Rock Pools along the shoreline. I was absolutely fascinated by all the tiny shells, sea sponges, anemones, barnacles and starfish.
Memories Of The Rock Pools features many carefully created hand sculpted (no moulds are used) and painted sea creatures using quality Japanese paper-clay on a environmentally sustainable timber, professional pine panel.
Lots of time, patience and love has gone into the creation of this amazing artwork which is sealed, painted and sealed again with matte varnish.
100cm x 75cm in size, Memories Of The Rock Pools is stained with inks and then acrylic painted with sea greens and blues. Finally the intricate details are brought to life carefully with white acrylic paint.
If you love the sea, this is a REALLY unique addition to your home, office or art collection.
The wood sides are painted a complimentary sea green. The finished artwork is hard and permanent and will last indefinitely with minimal care (just dust occasionally). The total weight of this piece is 5kg and comes with a sturdy hanging system.
Can be framed but this artwork comes ready to hang as is and includes a Certificate of Authenticity. I have named and signed the back of the artwork.
