This painting took as inspiration a man photographed lying on a diving board over a pool. I loved the angle and decided to crop the image and use the water as a metaphor for the diver\'s emotions prior to undertaking a dive. The moment when you take a deep breath then plunge into the unknown... I have made the turbulence of the water reflect his nerves. That and the strong shadows gives it a David Hockney‚ slightly \"Pop\" feel.
