The painting was inspired by a dear friend who I grew up with in Sydney, he became a well known photographer and has graciously allowed me to use his work of art to create mine, his name is Peter Eastway. This piece is a move for me, I am using some watercolour techniques to produce an oil painting, so it has been quite an adventure. The artwork is rendered on marine ply with a wooden cradle, so it can be hung without a frame and looks like a stretched wrap around canvas, which you can see in the photo. It does make it a little heavier than canvas, but nothing which would be a problem with hanging. I hope that this painting will be the first of many in this style, which is much more free and expressive, like the watercolours but in oil paint. As an artist, it is always wonderful to move forward and find a new way to express the visions that you see in your mind.
