Acrylic Paint on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
This work is derived from the background soundscapes in phone conversations with my parents.
Calling from Melbourne to their remote QLD home, no matter the time of day, eventually the cacophony of the cockatoos will take over.
For my Mum they are welcome noisy cohabitants, spoken about as if they are part of the family. To my Dad they are destructive force with no regard for the well-being of his trees.
Previously only working with illustration and water colour on paper, I want to push my work to incorporate the delicate details of my illustration with the freedom of abstraction.
Working with heavy body and flow acrylics and pastel on canvas, I have used this idea to explore and push my work forward. Bringing an illustrative hand to emotive colour.
