Etching of the Superb Lyrebird which is endemic to the south-east of Australia. They are great mimics, and are one of the largest songbirds in the world. They are names for their tail which is shaped like a lyre.
The work was inspired after seeing the birds in the Blue Mountains near Sydney.
Etching was augmented using sugar-lift technique which adds tonal range to the work. Etching was done on an aluminium plate. Hand inked with Charbonnel black ink. Print editions were produced in black and white, and sepia. This is the third edition from the black & white press.
