Artwork Description

Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the back.

This painting continues a series I have been working on representing views of the high country in Victoria. This painting is another representation of the Ovens River while walking along the bank. The painting is in the early morning light when there is often a bright light mist across the river. The painting is an impression and makes use of thick texture in the foreground and pale tones for the sky and mist.

Medium

The painting is composed of background layers of ghost gum, mountain peak (a pale misty blue) and warm white acrylics. The trees are indicated by painting with a sponge in contrasting midnight blue, burnt umber and blacks to produce almost a silhouette effect. The stones and foreground water and foliage are indicated by use of palette knife using much thicker paint..
