Artwork Description

Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

The Red Centre of Australia is an almost surreal landscape. The colours are the richest of reds and the sky can be more cobalt than any paint tries to imitate. Visiting the areas around Uluru and Kata Tjuta took me almost to another world and this painting has that other worldly whimsical feel. Although the painting represents the area it attempts to capture the landscape as an impression rather than realism. The trees and rock formations are semi abstract adding to the whimsy.

Medium

The Pthalo Blue, Cobalt and Violet acrylic on canvas forms the dark, brilliant background for the splendour of the red monolith formations, rocks and whimsical trees and foliage. The painting has a little texture which gives the impression of the layers of rock and weathering over millions of years.
