This pebble painting was inspired by our last visit to Carnarvon Gorge where we saw many of these small stone towers. Tourists leave ROCKS piled precariously high at the creek beds as trail markers of their visit. The stacking of these rocks has become very popular in recent years.
The official name for deliberately stacked rocks is ‘cairns’. The word is Gaelic, and means “mound of stones built as a memorial or landmark.”
This painting is an alcohol ink painting on Yupo paper, and framed with a black modern frame with a mat and protected by glass.
This size of painting is categorised as “small format” works and they are dynamic collectibles. Art lovers can build a collection of small sized pictures by theme, or artist, or medium or even a similar colour.
