Influence was from Claud Monet 's "Waterlilly" series. I used my design, composition and colours and Monet's brush stokes. The Lotus Lilly is found in the far northern part of Australia, in waterholes ,and billabongs whcih are mostly very isolated. In a four wheel vehicle I visited the area in 2003 and this was painted from photos I took.
I was having trouble with the brushstrokes for some time. One night I got up about 2 am and tried again.
I swear Monet himself was there looking over my shoulder as the whole painting "just fell into place"
