On my travels within Australia, I met the sheep farmer who invited me over to watch the shearing. He related the history of the property - his grandfather was a convict, sentenced to 7 yrs out here from England. He worked for a Cooper ( a maker of barrels), then after he served his time he eventually was granted this acreage which became a dairy . He raised his family and lived there until his death. The property is now a merino sheep , prized for their very fine wool and still run by his family.
